I can’t believe its all ready February 2016. The month of January whizzed by before I even had time to get a feel for the year. Amongst the whirl wind, I haven’t even been to a restaurant once – but I definitely have made use of my favourite take away spots.
I’ve been too lazy and far too busy to stick heels and lipstick on my face to spend 2 hours eating out however I have been rocking the “I’m gonna eat my burger in bed evenings” quite well.
So for those of you wanting some fab take away spots right here in Jozi – take a peek.
Mexican fresh is a family all time favourite. I mean who doesn’t love nachos?
As far as fast food goes – Mexican Fresh is a healthy option for those wanting to have a cheat day. You’ll be cheating but with little regrets. They serve all the Mexican favourites Quesadillas, Burritos, Tacos, Nachos and my best, Chilli Poppers! All orders also come with a side of guacamole, sour cream and salsa. They are well priced with large portions and they have outlets in Bryanston, Blairgowerie and Sunninghill.
Goodfella’s has been open for years and makes the best wood fired oven pizzas in town. Based in Glendower, this pizza joint has a huge menu and makes every pizza with love and care. You call, place your order and 15 minutes later you pick up. You can ask for delivery but the waiting period is always long – they pump on the weekends. Give them a try and you won’t be disappointed, in fact you may find you have a new local pizzeria.
Sometimes all you need is Asian persuasion. Yung Chen is small outlet in Craighall with some of the greatest Chinese Jo’burg has to offer. They have a big menu with big flavours. They also include everyone’s favourites – Spring Rolls, Chow Main, Sweet & Sour Chicken, Twice Fried Beef (this is my favourite ever). This is a hidden gem that deserves all the business. Did I mention the Chef as won some awards as well. Well priced and large portions. Trust me on this one.
If you’re unsure on what you feel like – this is a place for everyone. You can order pizza, pasta, baguettes, salads and a great prego. The prego is spicy and saucy served on a Portuguese flour dusted roll. It comes flowing with sauce which is perfect to dip the side portion of shoe lace fries. Its simply, Yum! Also their pasta always does me well when I’m in the mood for comfort food.
Please don’t laugh at this – The Baron is on the list as they make our top takeaway burger. The burger is huge and contains all the goodness a burger should have. A juicy patty that’s not over cooked, melted cheddar, lettuce, a slice of tomato and caramelized onions. What more do you need for a burger in bed? Also The Baron has outlets all around Johannesburg – so find the closest outlet to you.
